Join us for this after work or school class for busy people who want to stay fit and relaxed. The focus of this class is on stretching and strengthening the major muscle groups, releasing tension, and consciously using the breath to recharge yourself with energy and to relax the body and mind. The level of the yoga practice will be adapted to those present. Beginners are welcome!

Yoga forEnhancing Your Mood

Research has found that the practice of Yoga has a positive effect on changing your mood and promoting a state of relaxed alertness. If you suffer from depression, anxiety or seasonal affective disorder (SAD), please join us for this class to learn gentle Yoga postures, breathing practices and meditation techniques to raise your energy, improve your depression, ease your anxiety and elevate your mood. You do not need to get down on the floor to particpate and benefit from this class. Start where you are and learn tools that will improve the quality of your life. Students will be given Yoga practices to do at home throughout the six week series.

Beginning Yoga
You don’t need to be young, thin, flexible or wear trendy yoga clothes to feel comfortable in this class. Learn to listen to your body’s needs and respect its limitations. Students will learn to link basic yoga postures with the breath awareness to increase strength and flexibility, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation and integration of body and mind.

Chair Yoga
Therapeutic Chair Yoga can provide many benefits for chronic health conditions such as cancer, osteoarthritis, diabetes, anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, hypertension, MS, COPD, rheumatoid arthritis, GERD, and chronic back pain just to name a few. Join us for this class and learn gentle yoga postures, relaxation techniques and breathing practices to help with the management of your condition, reduce symptoms, improve sleep, restore balance and improve your attitude and overall quality of life. The class will be tailored to meet the unique needs of the class participants.

Mindful Eating for Greater, Pleasure, Energy and Health
Many people move through life at a very fast pace, eating on the run, leaving them unsatisfied, undernourished, overweight and exhausted. In this class, you will learn how mindful eating can help you slow down and fully enjoy the food that you eat, enhance your digestive power, boost your metabolism and increase your energy. Learn relaxation techniques to decrease stress hormones in the body, which when elevated, promote the storage of fat around the waistline and increase cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Join us for this class and learn how deep breathing and gentle Yoga postures can teach you to connect with your body, eat healthier and feel nourished and satisfied. Each class will include time for discussion, and a gentle Yoga practice.

Yoga Snack Breaks: Chair Yoga for Everyday Life
Sitting in one position for long periods of time will cause tension in your muscles and a dullness of mind. Learn how to take a “yoga snack” break and bring gentle yoga stretches and breathing practices into your day to release neck and shoulder tension, improve posture, reduce back pain, relieve stress and increase energy to be more focused and productive. All yoga poses will be done standing or sitting in a chair.
